Anyway my main question is what type of trans fluid does the C6 take cause the dipstick says type F but a repair manual I have says DexronIII ATF which is right cause im getting confused 
.
Also,I have a 76 ford. The man i bought it from told me it has a 390 and a C6 but the engien has 32 352 stamped on it if anyone can tell me what this means that would be nice.

well in my book it says up till 79 use type f then from 80 forward use mercon
and a c-4 dipstick won't fit so you have the right one all c-6's used type f until 1979

Okay, after further research 77 & newer C6's require Dextron II
76 C6's require Type F.
I had to dig deep to find that.

ok thank you all cause my trans is actting like it has lost a gear and and it has more fluid in it than normal and the last time i put some in was maybe december at the latest im going in tomarrow to see if i find out what is wrong thanks for all the info i wanted to make sure i had been useing the right fluid.
