Just rebuilt the 390 in my 73 f100 and had the flywheel checked and resurfaced and put a complete new clutch assy . Now when I start out or shift I have a chatter. Never had that before and the bearing seems to move in and out smoothly. Any guesses as to the most likely culprit?
I wonder if maybe the flywheel was not ground "flat"?????
I have read that the dowls that the flywheel guide on that are between it and the block can be rotated to cure alignment problems. Wonder if this has anything to do with your problem?
Hopefully someone else with more experiance than I will chime in.
