Ok, this is a wierd one. It all started last night, I was coming toward a stop light on a down hill road. As I was almost to a complete stop, it seems like I hit a patch of ice and couldnt stop, except, there was no ice or wetness on the streets. I figured, maybe in that one spot, there might have been some water or something, but it has happend everytime I have come to a stop since last night. Almost like my brakes just stop working for a fraction of a second everytime I am almost stopped. It happens in both front wheels.
have you recently had a brake job done. have you checked the rotors. someone just had the same problem. turns out he replace only one rotor instead of both and he had uneven breaking as he put it. if you havent done so yet, pull the wheels off and inspect the front brakes.
Well, I just put on NEW rotors and brake pads about 15,000 miles ago. it has 52,000 miles now. I just took of my right tire and there is a clicking coming from the caliper each time the brake is pressed. And as I was putting the tire back on, I noticed that the tire would "wiggle" as if the lug nuts werent tightened, but they were all torqued. So, I think there is something a little more major besides the brakes? sorry about the fuzzy description, but I am lost in what is happening.
not sure about the clicking caliper but it may be related to the wiggle. I would have to say that the wheel bearings are causing the wiggle since you had to repack them when you did the rotors unless the wiggle was there before the brake job. did you make sure the rotors were clean when you put them on.

Dito, sounds like a hub bearing problem or improper installation.
I guess that makes sense. I'll give that a try and see what happens, if all else fails, I might just do the entire thing all over again. Thanks for the input!!!!
Do You Have Front Abs? When The Abs Kicks In The Brakes Will Make A Clicking Noise. I Have A 99 Ford Windstar That Was Doing A Similar Thing. I Would Almost Stop And My Abs Would Kick In Where I Would Practically Roll Through The Stop Light. Turned Out To Be The Ring Gear For The Abs On The One Side Causing The Problem. Replaced It And It Solved The Problem. (it Had A Visibly Damaged Tooth On The Ring)
Yea, I do have front abs. Your problem sounds exactly like what my ranger is doing. Where is the ring gear located? is it in the caliper? I am in the process of putting a new hub on the front right side, ill see what happens!
I'm not sure on your truck. My windstar was front wheel drive so it was located on the axle shaft where it meets the hub. Just look for something that looks like a sprocket with a sensor above it. That would be the abs ringgear. Hope this helps. Good luck.
WOW! I took my hub off and WOW!!!! I could almost pull the two peices apart. I dont know what it could be from, but it was BAD. So, I want to thank everyone for leading me in the right direction. I knew it wasnt the ABS ring-gear when I saw the hub, but thanks for the suggestion! And thanks again EVERYONE!
