thats an interesting article but all these tests are crap. There are to many variables and differences. They are not fair. Actually the things are worthless other tha for telling what those combos will make for power.
Hahahaha the 428 made more power. Take a look at the rods; the 427W rods look like 360FE long rods. I'd say they look about as strong.
Plus, they didn't even use a 428 block. They used a .060" oversize plain old 390 block. Anyone could build the same thing.
Interestingly, when I put their FE build into desktop dyno, it didn't even come close. DD2k shows it at 445hp @ 5500rpm. Not that that makes a difference, the real dyno doesn't lie, but maybe some of our builds are making more HP than we thought...
Edit again: They spent too much money. A standard 428 crank and plain old 390 rods would have worked just as good.

Yeah I was sure the FE would have put out more horse, do you think the are biased going for the windsor I know I hear that alot, "FE's are old and heavy and don't make good power" shows how little most people know about them.

I thought it was a pretty good advertisement for the shop, and they used two of my favorite motors. They knew how far to bore each block, and keep it alive.
No mention of rocker assembly for the FE, was it stock? Have to agree with Rusty, a stock crankset will live at those rpms for less $.
Why no chart over 6k for the Windsor?
Why talk about roller cams and mention fairness? Why not run rollers in both; not "fair"?
Interesting remark about rod length, did I not see static compression listed?
If someone GAVE me either motor I'd be thrilled! At least I could sell/trade the Windsor for a drop-in FE.
