My new truck 2005 sd, CC, 6.0 Diesel..has a build date of 10/04 off the Drivers side door..What are some of the bad problems associated with this date? Heard something about a transmission leaking problem..right now after 750 miles it is dry as a bone underneath..

Mine is a 10/04 build date as well. Just had the trans recall done (05B27), which is just something with a snap ring. Best thing to do is call dealer and have them check through their computer system (called Oasis). This is a pretty good webiste too: http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/60bulletin.htm
Interesting..I just contacted dealer and they looked and said that mine did not have a recall on it...looks like two built on the same date would have the same recall..but could be different transmissions I guess..thanks for your reply..
I was at a Ford dealer in MA last week and they had their 2005 SD yard plow truck with 500+ miles on it on the lift with the tranny sitting on the floor with a quarter sized hole punched through the side of the case near the top. Mech said it was due to an improperly nstalled ring that falls off the shaft and as the tranny shifts the shaft keeps slapping the inside of the case until it punches through the side. Said it was a recall thing but they hadn't gotten around to thier truck 'yet' when it punched through. Plowing with it seemed to hasten and aggravate the problem.
Oh, I forgot to bring up a point.....my truck has the plow package. I believe at this time that the 05B27 recall only applies to superduties with the plow package. I can't imagine that Ford would just limit it to plow trucks since they are the same trannies. I wouldn't be surprised to see them expand this recall to all superduties. They probably just want to get all the plow trucks done since those transmissions are cycled more from R to D, especially this winter season!
I believe the tranny date had to have a build date of March 04 thru June 04 . You have to get under the truck to see when the tranny build date was . They are not the same as the truck build date . There is a tag on the driver side of the tranny .
Just checked my transmission and it is a 09/04 build date so it is looking good for now..Man I hope this truck is a good as the 99 one I traded in. I loved it and had no problems at all after 110,000 miles and so far I am excited about this truck..Diesel is quiet, smooth shifting, no leaks and looks great haven't pulled anything yet but feels to have lots of power and torque..
You will be amazed with the pulling power of this engine/tranny combo . I pull 10,000 lb camper and sometimes forget its back there . Smooth smooth smooth .
