oil cooler leak

oil cooler leak

I have a 1990 f250 7.3 and the oil cooler is leaking around the front header gasket. Can anyone tell me how to fix this. Do I have to remove the cooler and and rebuilt it or can I just un bolt the cooler from the engine and replace the front and rear header gaskets.

dont forget to drain the water. If its the header gasket, fix that, but make sure it isnt one of the orings leaking.

You should be able to just unbolt it if it is just at the header gasket and replace with new gaskets. Mine was leaking at the o-rings so it's more work to get completly out. Some say you will need to lift the motor a few inches to get it out but I got mine out by unhooking the steering shaft from the gear box and it gave me enough clearance to get out. Good Luck.
