Hi All,
Just finished reading the over three thousand posts in this forum. Got quite an education on pre-powerstroke diesels. Made me want to run out and start working on my 88 350 dually, but nothing much to do to it. Already has an ATS and a US Gear Aux. Guess I will just change the oil and filters as it is just about due. As far as any problems with the truck, I had to install new lift pump on my way to Florida last Oct. Half of the pump arm wore off. Second problem with lift pump. Arm broke off five years ago, after 24 hr straight haul trip from Mississippi gulf coast to central Ohio. I pull a fairly heavy 35 foot fifth wheel RV. All well with lift pump now, hope it stays that way on trip back to Ohio from Fla in Spring.
I guess that is enough for first post, great forum, glad to be here.

Welcome to FTE. I haven't done this yet but it's in the plans to replace the mechanical lift pump with an electric. Anything to make it last longer and run better!

lift pump

Hi Liam,
I too will probably go to electric pump, if I have any more problems with original type. Replacing the original type was a real bear on the road. I was lucky to have an excellant mechanic caravaning with me last fall. Also had my wife following in car. Made trip to get new pump a breeze.
Best of luck when you add your electric pump. When you get it done, tell us how the project went.

Exclamation The 3000+ Club.

Jeeze. You must have some real determination to read 3000+ posts! You deserve extra credit for that. There is a quiz on posts 1 to 1500 in the AM!!
Most of us would do well to do that too.
Maybe we should start a 3000+ club for those who have sat down and read them ALL. Wow. What an education like you said. It would also cut down on the redundancy of the questions. I know I am guilty as sin. I do try to run a search sometimes. That helps.
Anyway I congratulate you on your reading and welcome you to FTE!!!
It is easy to see who the posting Gurus are (many thanks to all of you) but there is now way to know who has done their reading homework. ( Esp. Us relatively new members) You might be one of the few to have read all posts besides the moderators.

3000 plus

Thanks Cetane,
I actually began reading the posts last fall, and decided to join the group a couple of days ago. It was kind of like reading a good book, hard to put it down.

I have been doing some minor bodywork between rainstorms here in Florida.
Kind of tough to do though, as most of my tools and big air compressor are back in Ohio. One of my neighbors said that I should hang out a bodyshop shingle(sign). He agreed that the customers would probably run when I got the spray cans out.

Take care,
GL

I hear you brother. This site, aside from being extremely informative, is damn addicting to me. I know I'll take heat from this, but it's better than ****. lol. Best site I ever visted. Could probably make me half a diesel mechanic.
