Smile T/C Conversion

I am trying to order the parts I need to install the new Torqshift (5R110) Converter on my 7.3 with a 4R100. I know you need the Bell housing spacer and I think a crank spacer. Can anyone give me a contact to order these parts? Any help would be appreciated.

Smile Change in Plan

After checking into swapping the 4r100 t/c with a 5r110 t/c I have changed plans. I spoke with my local Trans. Shop and they iformed me that for around 1000.00 they will install a double disk t/c ( billet) and perform several pump mods which will up the pressure and change it over from a pulse modulation to a steady on/off. They claim the work they do will bullet proof the tranny/tc. They told me they have done this for many of the local cattle haulers and hot shotters and that these guys are pulling trailers around 30000 with no rework. I couldn't believe it. We will see.

Um, yeah. Probably a better choice. I'm not sure - but I think someone could answer this - doesn't the engine control computer use the 4-speed auto trans as part of its setup? If you changed to a 5-speed with different line pressure requirements, would it even work?

If not, since the 7.3 never came with the torqueshift 5-speed, I am guessing that it would take some serious reprogramming to make it work.

Anyone?

You misunderstood me. All that I was originally planning on doing was using the Torque converter made for the torqueshift (r51100) AND installing it on my 4r100. Cost is only about 200 for the t/c from the dealership and all you have to do is add a bell housing spacer and a crank bushing. Cost is only around 250 for all parts, but I changed my mind after talking with the tranny shop. He informed me that even though the 5r110 torque converter is better, it wouldn't be near as stout as the double disk torque converter and the pump mods. Think I will spend the 1000 and have him work his magic......
