E40d Tranny 4wd application

Gang,
Have a 1991 F-250 4wd with a diesel and E4OD tranny. I need to replace the tranny anbd I need to know about interchangibility possibilities. Specifically will an E4OD out a 1987 F250 with a 351 W bolt up to the diesel. Same question for 1 1989 F-150 with a 5.0?

No, and no.

The diesel uses the big block pattern, and the 351 and 302 both have a different bellhousing pattern. You need one out of a diesel or 460 truck.

Thank-you...That's what I thought after doing some more research...is the diesel and the 460 the same pattern?

The 460 is the same but I bet the gear ratios are different for the 460 from the Diesel. The gears are different in the ZF 5-speeds.

The 460 and the diesel have different patterns. The gear ratios are the same on all E4OD and 4R100 transmissions.
