Casting on my tranny?
I pulled my tranny out of my truck because I'm rebuilding the motor. Its an 87 F-150 and its a C6 tranny with a casting on the top of the bell housing that says 24. What does the 24 mean?

It means that case was cast in die #24. There are many dies for each type of trans. The dies are rotated in and out of production. While they are not in production they are in inspection and repair.
The number doesn't tell you what kind of transmission you have. All transmissions will have enough dies that they all have a #24.
