Gee, our '03 Expy was a decent ride. Quirky, but decent. Fading cladding (replaced under warranty), brake dust (I wash it once or twice a week), power window switches falling out (kids), molding flapping on the windshield (superglue), and radio reception (never resolved). Sooo...on balance, not perfect, but nothing catastrophic to report either in 25K miles of driving. Had the noisy differential(s), but it never got bad enough to warrant replacing it (them)- especially after seeing the replacements develop the same noises. Have yet to see one actually fail.
As far as cost of ownership- bought it used in '03 in the low twenties, sold it in the low twenties. Sucked a fair amount of fuel, but that's not really surprising either. On balance, it was a decent kid/dog/trailer hauler that went about it's business without a lot of drama. My wife hates drama- especially if it has to do with her cars.
Sooo...all in all, a decent truck. Wife wants a pickup next time around though.
My 03 EB was a pretty good truck. The only problem was the known issue with the differential. The Dealer did some tweaking the first time and about 8 months later the noice came back. The Dealer subsequently replaced it and everything was fine. Overall, I was very satisfied with the 03. We sold the 03 EB and now have the 05 Limited in Cashmere. Took every option but Air Suspension since we don't tow a boat. There is a substantial difference in performance. The humm of the new 3 valve engine is great! The new instrument panel makes more sense with the message center in the middle. The reconfiguration/placement of the switches for the climate controlled seats are more functional. We had the safety system on the 03 and opted for the same plus the advance trac feature. My wife loves the power folding side mirrors when pulling into the garage. So far we love it...I highly recommend it!
