9" packing it in, how common?
Hey guys, just as the title says. I thought i was losing a ujoint, so i slid under to see how bad they were, and discovered that noooo, its not a ujoint, my pinion bearings are just cooked, probably an 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch of play side to side, and a big puddle of oil after an hour or two. I was just wondering if this is a common thing on these, or whats the deal. I do have plans for a 10.5" rear and 60 front, so im not overly upset, just was hoping it woulda waited a month! Oh well, good excuse to insure the stang this soon. Thanks for readin guys

All rear axle will develope this after time and even more so if they are driven hard with larger tires. More than likely the gears are worn so bad that they will never have the correct wear pattern again so I would just slap a new seal in there and crank on the pinion nut until you get a small amount of drag on the pinion when you turn it or intil the slop is gone. This will get you by for now. If you haven't found the axles you need pm me. I may know of a set for you.
