i have a C6 on my '80 F-150. when it changes from first to second there is a large jerk that i can feel in the cab and i can hear it also. also when in first or second when i take my foot off the gas pedal and then put it back on the tranny engages loudly and kicks a little. i just replaced my fluids and have proper levels. any ideas or solutions to this problem? thanks for you time.
Does it rev higher than normal before it shifts? If it does, I would try inspecting the vacuum line that runs from the engine to the vacuum modulator on the passenger rear side of the trans. You could also try replacing the modulator too.
I had the same problem with my c6 in my 84 f150 4x2. I had the fluids changed and it serviced. They replaced the module and it all of the sudden started not changing into 2nd gear. I took it back to the place where I got it serviced and they found a half of a washer type ring in the bottom of the pan. I decide it was time to get it rebuilt so I preiced everywhere out and amazingly the cheapest place I could find was my local Ford dealership. They started to take it apart after it sat for 2 days after my appointment and they found the other half of the ring had gone through the whole tranny. So needless to say I needed a whole bunch of more parts. They ordered the parts and the some how they ordered the wrong shift kit. My truck has now been at ford for 5 days and they expect it to be done in about 4 more. Originally they told me it would be 2 days. So if 2 days means 9 days does a 1 year warranty mean 6 years? But I guess it still beats ownin a chevy!
