ASE
I have the same problem out of 04 truck and have went through what sounds like the same thing you have it is a real pain, I would not agree with your numbers though it seems more like 80% great and 20% problem, and even that is just a guess. I would however say that the 6.0 is a major disappiontment to me after owning 2 7.3 super duty no problems with either and av. 15 mpg pulling trailer of equipment. IT seems to me ford is more intrested in the once in while towing customer, then the customer who needs a dependable well built truck that gets good mpgs. I am in the lanscaping business and talk to alot of people who are 6.0 owners while at the nursries and supply house mulch yard, and at lunch. It seems that in my area there are very few dealerships who have techs who know what it takes to fix the 6.0. because there are only a handful of the people I talk to that are happy with there 6.0,and have yet to talk to many that are getting the kind of mpgs they got of there 7.3. Wish you luck on the new truck hope it does well,I live in the country and the farmers out here love the dodge trucks. they all run sticks.

This, it would seem, is the single biggest challenge that Ford (all the diesel mfgs for that matter) faces today. Can you immagine what it will be like for the diesel techs when all the new diesels with new EPA compliance hit the street?
I don't see where any one here has shrugged their shoulders and said it happens. Or advised anyone to do that.
If my toilet broke I wouldn't go to the Toilet Enthusiasts site and spout off about all toilets are junk either.
Pay 45 k drive down the turn around and its worth 37k.
Surely this is not a news flash. This has been true since the beginning of automotive time.
My point is to show that its ok for Ford to write you off hoping you will go away or trade it,
I have to agree that in some cases it certainly seems that way. However, as a general statement, IMO, that would be very false.
Just a question for you, have you had a brand new truck fall apart every week with one thing or another? and you drive a loaner car more than your new work truck.
And I ain't happy that you ain't happy with yours for what ever reason. My history here is evidence that I support those that have been wronged.
My point is not to condem a whole species because of the minority "bad apples"
You got about a 80-20 split in getting a truck that runs right or for that matter has great fuel mileage, 80 being your odds of buying a truck with a fix me Daly license plate
I agree with kw5413 . I bet out of a 100 6.0's there would be very few that go back for several repairs . I just dont know what kind of luck you have had ASE . I can understand your frustrations . Well no I cant . I have never owned a problem vehicle to the point that you have had . I really do hope your luck changes .
I might have been a little harsh with the numbers. But you have no idea what its like to turn the key every morning praying it doesnt break. then when it does happen they say tow it in the yard and we will get right on it. 20 times in a little over 6 month old truck, and then your scared to even plan a trip with it because you know its not going to make it. All this for 45k and they tell you we don't know what to tell you except your not alone, right from the mouth of the techs.
Or ,my favorite its called growing pains!!
IT is impossible to know just how many are having trouble but is sure more then a few,and it is also impossible to know how it feels to have a brand new truck break down all the time unless you have been there, dont give up and see if you can have a meeting with the shop manager, and make sure he know about your problems. If after meeting with shop manager there is no progress ask to speak with GM.AND TAKE ALL YOUR PAPER WORK AND SEE IF THAT HELPS,GOOD LUCK.
Allready done that, problem it is always something new excep some of the tranny problems. the mileage thing is just the slap in the face on top of all of the problems.
I would think your dealer would step up to the plate . What does the owner of the dealership say . You should know him by a first name bases by now .
Thats the key!
I had the worst luck with my 03 Cobra I bought brand new. 2 years
later and only 6500 miles they still could not figure out my cooling
prob. They mentioned to me about lemoning it but I loved my car
so I hung in there. It was in service for over 4 months all in all
and not one of those days did my dealer not have a free rental
or loaner car, or refuse warranty work, ever. Thats why I stayed
with them, got a buy back and the A plan on a 05 Harley. I used to
hang around a SVT forum and most of complaints were all DEALER related.
I feel your pain and hope it all works out.
Nobody wants a $45,000 lemon. I can say that I did go to Dodge after my 2003 6.0 was bought back. I purchased a 2004.5 3500 Dodge 600 Cummins. All I can say is I "LIKED" the motor and hated the truck. My fuel mileage was at best 10 MPG and the truck vibrated like none other. After a 300 mile trip I felt like I had been ran over by a mule and kicked in the head. The end result-I'm back with Ford and glad to be home, yes I took a huge bath.
