im stuck between a flat bottom boat or performance and stereo equpiment for my dads truck
what kinda of performance/ stereo stuff shoudl i get for my dadds truck, 1000k is what i gots to spend
the 02 sensors are bad i know that, that brings me to my second question, where are the located at, im prolly going to get a highflow throttle body and a codl air intake but im not sure
can ya guys help me out
btw its a 97 f150 super cab 2wd 4.6l triton v8 with the third door, pics in gallery
I can't help you on the o2 sensors but on my 3 door 1997 Ext cab I ported and polished my TB and installed a Volant cold air intake. Honestly the performance gains weren't really worth the cost. I'd just replace his o2 sensors and maybe get him a good tuneup, and of course put the rest into a good system for him.
Man, you have $1,000,000 (1000k) to spend on your dads truck? SWEET! Just kidding, i know you mean $1000. If i were you, I'd go with the performance parts, maybe custom exhaust from the headers back, a performance cam, and some cheap nitrous. Stereo equipment? If your trucks already got a CD player and decent stock speakers, just get a 200 watt amp and a 12" sub, that way you'll have just enough bass so that your bumpers/license plates won't vibrate off, and you won't get shot up when you drive downtown!
mgman, The o2 sensors are located just below the exhaust manifolds and just before the bend in the exhaust. There's two each before the cats and two after the cats. The front two are the most important. Autozone has them for about $100 for both fronts.
Personally if I had a grand to play with, I would either buy the boat or put it in my own truck. Not saying anything bad about dad, I am sure he would love you for it but, hey, let's be real, buy the boat or put the grand in the bank and save up to buy your very own truck!!!!
Performance would be the way to go...thats if that is what he is in to. You can get a nice bolt on performance exhaust system for about $450 and another $150 for install unless you do it yourself. Then for another $350, a cold air intake with a few bucks left for the throttle body plate. If its sound he likes, then for $1000, You have alot of ways to go. If he has the premium sound already, check out a Panasonic in-dash DVD player. It will play DVDs, CD, MP3, TV Receiver, and it has inputs for a navigation receiver too. I found those for about $850 and with the premium sound system, the factory amp is external to the head unit and Car Toys sells the harness adapters for about $15.00 and the wiring adapters for about $15.00. Easy install and TOO COOL!!!! (Just got the set up for my truck. Now I am looking for the nav system. Although I went all out and got the Alpine unit. Now no $$ for a while for toys).
If he doesn't have the premium sound, then get the full set up...head unit, cd changer, amp(s), sub(s), new speakers. You can get a hell of a setup for $1000. www.crutchfield.com has some great custom sub boxes made specifically for different years and models that also include a space to mount an amp.
Lots of choices....let us know which way you go! I am always open for new ideas.
