hey so heres an update to my problem, (me turning my key and NOTHING happening, no power, no aux, no crank) well i decided to run a jump wire in my fusebox from a constant power source, IE headlights, to the "ignition on" slot, which gave me RUN/aux power, but no crank when i turn the key, so now i still have to jump the starter relay to get ignition, what the hell is going on any ideas?
think about it carefully, i rely on you guys! I NEEED YOU BRONCO GURUS!!!
Check the little wire that runs all by itself to the solenoid. That is the wire to the ignition switch and it attaches to the littlest post on the solenoid. There is a rubber boot on it and it will look fine from the outside, but likes to corrode on the inside. Clean it up and reconnect. This one has gotten me before, took a while for me to figure it out.
im sorry but you do not win, the selonoid only controls the starter, which doesnt explain, why my key only works with a jumper wire in the fuse box, and i allready replaced my ignition switch, because i also thought that was the problem,
have you metered the fusable links. i think one is for the alternater one is for the main power feed to the fuse panel. you have to have a bad feed some where.
There is a small silver pushrod that gets pressed down into the steering column when you turn the key. If it's broken then you will not be able to start the car. I had this happen on my 90 XLT and all it cost me was 20$, a trip to the dealer, and a saturday afternoon to pull the whole column apart and replace the damn thing. Sad part is, it was seated correctly so I had to take it apart a second time so that the accessory position would work. I hope this helps.
