Maybe in the wrong Forum???

Im sure most of you know or have an Idea how expensive buying and/or building your own home can be.I am currently working on a project that (should) help My family and I beat some of those costs.
Im here to ask for a little assistance from some of you in My area.
I am looking for Old barns That are falling down and useless as they are .
My plan is to tear down and recycle some of them into a post and beam constructed house.
If anyone in The Johnson City, Bristol, Kingsport area or anywhere else within a reasonable distance knows of any such structures Please contact Me via this post or My personal Email.
Thank you very much In advance for your help.
Tony

I would hit the backroads in greene county. Most of the barns in this area are made from wormy cheastnut or red oak. The old timers know what they have and charge a arm and leg for it. Also check out the old farms in Gray that are being bought by developers.... You may get lucky.

I remember in Maryland in the 70's there was a real big deal about "Weathered Wood" being sought for construction material by a lot of the upper class and yuppie folks at the time, I think you have a real good idea there.

Just be sure the wood is sound, and treat it thoroughly.

I have watched a number of pretty cool looking old houses get bulldozed around T-county lately, and disposal of not only the wood, but other materials such as fittings, cabinets, and counter tops must be an expense to the developers. Most would likely tell you "There it is! You GO, boy!!!"

And be happy as a pig in slop to have all that stuff removed...
