OK!!!
I finally got it right. Here it is:
300 cid - rebuilt with 30 over pistons stock compression.
3 angle valve job with some port matching
Crane Power Max Truck cam - idle to 4500rpm.
Mallory Unilite ignition - no vacuum advance about 12 btdc and MSD coil.
Fuel injection exhaust, walker downpipe into a 3" Catco high flow cat (gotta have it here) with the pump.
Summit 3" Cat-back system with Flowmaster 50.
Holley 390 4v, on an Offy DP. Home made EGR setup.
It may not light'em up but it sure does move a lot better than stock and the RPM top end is over 5k.
Sorry no dyno nymbers just seat of my pant tells me, much better. With the 1V it was a struggle to get it past 3k rpm, now no problem well past 4k.
I have tried 2 1/2" and 3", I prefer the 3, I don't know if there is a measurable difference. 3" look cooler though and it fits right out of the Summit box.
My truck is dual tank and 4x4 so room is very limited and duals would be difficult. This just runs great and sounds even better.
