Anybody remember the old chrome emblems that cars used to have from the dealer? The ones that were actually bolted on? There was a Buick dealer in FL that had them up til maybe 10 years ago. Does anybody know if any dealers still use them? I saw one a while back that was chromed plastic.
Every one I see now is a sticker and it bugs me. When I bought my truck I told them the sticker comes off or I didn't buy the truck. They didn't believe me until I started walking away. The sticker was off by the time the paperwork was done.
The sticker on my wifes car looks pretty good so I didn't put up a fuss on that one.
Fox Auto Mall in Auburn, NY still screws their little "fox" logo onto the back of every car they sell. They have almost every franchise in town, and let's just say they act as though they know it. Ironically, they owned the dealership I work for now, about 10 years ago.
Heh. This is a bit on-top i guess. I've tried to acquire (by email) dealership stickers and license plate frames from Dale Jarrett Ford in Hickory, NC, and Mark Martin Ford in Batesville, AR, with no response. I offered to pay for the items as well shipping. I'm a huge NASCAR and Ford fan, and support all the Ford teams like crazy, and would love to put either on my truck! (I saw a gorgeous F-150 4x4 that was from Dale Jarrett Ford when I was in Mooresville, NC last May for the Coca Cola 600)
The Ford dealer I worked for about five years ago used to put a sticker on each fender, the tailgate, and usually put on a license plate frame with the dealer name. They also sold mudflaps with their name on it. I had a guy come in the body shop part where I worked one day and demanded that I take 'em off because people were asking him if he was related to the owner of the dealership.
Anyone know how to get the decal type off w/o damaging the paint? Just picked up my SD a week ago and it already had the decal on the tailgate.
Take it to the dealer and tell them to take it off. Tell them you didn't give them permision to put it on (especially if you ordered the truck) and you want it off now. They will most likely take it off. If not, a heat gun will help allot and then just pateince peeling it off.
I tried today at noon after the truck sat in the sun all morning. They do peel off somewhat easily... BUT... each letter comes off seperately! There is no common film that pulls them all off. I dread the Ford logo and dealer motto that is in tiny font.
