This friend of mine was going to junk this 300zx cause he couldnt get it to pass smog so i grabed it from him and towed it over to my house and started wrenchin. I know its a ricer but atleast its rear wheel drive. I was going to try to get it to pass then sell it but if i cant get it to pass iam going to grab a 302 and swap it in and make a dune runner w/a v-8... light cars with a v8s makes fast cars then it wont be so rice
Dune runner? make that bad boy a 1/4 machine! ultimate sleeper, drop a 302 in it, put a paxton on it, but try the best to make it quiet. some guy will pull up to you in a honda, and rev the 4 banger. then he'll be changing his pants when he see's that beater nissan kicked sideways with a smokecloud the size of rhode island behind it!
Chances are the carbs just need adjusted. Get an air flow meter, can be ordered from most motorcycle shops. The trick is to get all the carbs to flow the same. Then adjust from there for smooth running under load. If it still fails, lean it out till it stalls, then richen it up 1/2 turn. It'll run bad but it'll pass.

its efi so there aint no carbs. but i did give it a tune up and before the tune-up it ran rich and wouldnt idle now it will so i am going to pretest it to see how close it is then i will decide what i will do next. I have thought about tuning it into the ultamite sleeper but tought it would be cool to have a long travel suspention in a car with padels on the tires
There is an aftermarket for those cars, being that it's EFI, I'd replace the o2 sensors too. That will help ALOT. Is it mass air flow or speed density? I haven't seen one... It may be very easy to hop up that motor.
I replaced the o2 sensors as part of the tune up along with the fuel filter and i dont see a mass air flow sensor so iam asuming that its speed density i fired her up today and it idles and deosnt run rich any more. I know there is a lot of performact parts for the car but if i go for performace i will go for a v-8 cuz a v-6 just sound weak
Awesome, free car, thats great.
It is a turbo?
They don't go that great stock either way, but that can be adjusted.
I really like them, depite being as common over here as a Taurus to you guys.
A really good looking GT.
A good spot for performance parts is http://www.z1motorsports.com/index.php?cPath=1_6
As much as I like Ford, I think it is a bit sacraligous putting a 302 in it, how many people like it when people shove a 350 in a Ford?
Not I.
If you want to change the engine to get more stonk, get a 4.5l V8 out of an Infiniti, and turbocharge the beast.
Thats just my opinion.

i do agree that a 302 in an import deosnt sound great but i do have one in the barn waitin for a home. what are the specs on the 4.5l v8 and where do i find one? if its a modular engine I dont want it i like having only one cam and pushrods and rockers.
also i so get made when people throw 350s in fords
Some of the earlier EFI Nissans had a voluntary recall on the EFI systems. This covered many years of their cars. My sister has a 240 (year unknown) and just last year the dealership replaces the system for free and the car had over 200k miles on it. It was a substantial difference in performance after that. I would check with a dealership and see if they have the service record on that car via the vin to see if any recalls or tsb's were performed on it.
thats even better, you already have a 302. get some mounts and put that 302 in her, and hook a paxton to it. that thing would haul ***** and drop jaws! ultimate sleeper. it wont be able to pass e-check (obviously) , but the stock motor in it now wont anyways. if i were you however, since its free, I'd take it to a scap yard, and make some money for your bronco, if you need anything for it.
