Got a 55 Ford...Anybody have a good way to hook up gas pedal. I have a Firewall mounted now and had to bend it around because of brake arm now it looks like Fido's Behind... , just curious, been thinking of a through the floor and wondering who makes a good one(Carpenter,No Limit,Lokar,Whoever), who has had good luck with them.willing to spend alittle but not more than $125...Please leave feedback
I used the Lokar eliminator floor mount pedal and cable in my 56 and it works good. Just locate, cut a retangular hole, drill some holes and bolt in place.

I almost used the lokar thru floor pedal and cable assembly, but instead elected to use
lokars firewall mount, It worked great on my 56, although I had to utilize the designed in means of changing pedal to the left side of mounting bracket for alignment.
Hey 56Fun.....Can you give more detail on what parts you got. I know the eliminator pedal..What type of brackets, cable....How did the cable clear the motor? Did the Cable loop around a bracket. I have a 460 and I have a Bracket on my intake manifold the held the old cable then it connected to the carb.

As I recall I purchased the standard cable that Lokar recommends (36"?) plus the bracket & spring they sell that mounts at the carb. Ran the cable up over the rear of the engine to the carb bracket, cut for length and attached to carb. I've added a couple of photos in my gallery that may help you see this better. 56FUN
Has anyone modifed the stock linkage to allow for more legroom? I would like to move it back a few inches to keep my right leg from cramping while driving. Will shortening it mess up the mechanics of the linkage?
I also used the firewall mount, thought it gave the most leg room. Hey B/B ford, what'd you say? Sounds like it might apply to mine. I have been meaning to make a spacer of some sort to change the angle of my pedal. Joe
I used a 91 Camaro hanging throttle pedal to match the hanging pedals I also used for the brake and clutch. Lokar cable linkage thru the firewall. A thru the floor pedal is not the most comfortable to operate for any length of time since you need to bend your foot at the ankle to push it rather than pushing the whole foot forwards like with a modern pedal. Plus it's a lot easier to keep the floor clean. I sure appreciated the difference when I got my first car with a hanging pedal, no more right ankle cramps.
Joegaddy, with the lokar pedal I was able to mount the base where it needed to be, to line up with the throttle linkage. Then I mounted the pedal swivel on either the right or the left? for my comfort level. I'm sorry! I'm having a senior moment, and can't remember for sure which side, and my truck just went up to the paint shop so I can't check.
