I have a MotorCraft Carb. that I need to get a kit for, however I have no idea what size it is.The only number I can find on it is "5TZB" stamped on the side toward the front.
I called the local parts supply and they had no idea either and said I would have to call Ford to see what size it is.The truck is an 1980 F-250 with a 351M/400 3/4 Ton.
I have no idea if this is the Carb. that came out on the truck when it was new or not.
If anyone could help identify this Carb. I would sure appreciate it VERY much.

Just my $02. worth. I checked my 80/400, no tag on it, sorry. But I walked into NAPA and told them what I had and they gave me the right carb in a minute. I recommend you don't go with the kit because there is a good chance the throttle shaft bushing is leaking, and you can't replace it at home. I think you'll be happier just plunking down the bucks and buying the new Motorcraft carb. Be sure to replace the base gasket, or it WILL leak.
If it is the original engine/carb, they should be able to give you the right kit. The kits are usually made for "families" of carbs and fit many different variations of the the same type of carb. You can check what rocky is talking about, by wiggling the throttle arm up and down, while looking for play in the shaft. It will give you idle problems if it is worn.
Thanks for the info. guys, you were right Rocky the throttle shaft bushing was leaking.
Went to change carbs. with another MotorCraft and no tag on it either LOL. All I needed for it was the elastomer valve that goes in the accelerating pump.
NAPA didn't know what carb. I had either but they had 1 elastomer valve in stock for $2.50 Now to find where all those Vacume lines go ?
Thanks again
Ken
I have run across the same problem, no carburetor id tag. The advise in this forum is correct in that the "family" of carburetors is the same. The biggest headache (for me) were the VV variable venturi carbs which I detest. For the record, this is what I do with carbs on my vehicles that have no id tag...scrap 'em. Chances are they have been rebuilt more than once and are likely worn to the point of junk anyway, as you later discovered :-) I normally buy rebuilt or clean carbs from eBay (with tags of course) then throw in a kit and fine tune. I suggest eBay, but a local scrap yard is just as good, in fact many junk cars are there with recently installed new parts. If you are not racing your Ford, then the stock Motorcraft carb is sufficient.
