Arrow More HP/torque

I have a 2004 FX4 F150 with the new 5.4 triton . I am wanting to increase HP/Torque and am trying to find the best way to do this without wasting any time or money.

Although a supercharger is on my wish list, I will wait about a year until I can decide on the best one for our trucks. When you spend over $6,000 you want to make the right decision.

As far as adding some power to your truck in a much less expensive way, go with a tuner. Do a search on this site and you will find a ton of info about them.

From: Mcdonough GA
U have many different options that u can choose from and if u wait long enough someone will slam it and then soeone else will say best thing they ever did. from what i've seen and read on this forum seems like best route to go is tuner, then exhaust ,then some type of higher flowing airfilter ( many different views on here) personally gonna do the drop in K&N with a airraid replacement intake tube . With careful shopping should be able to get all that for around 800 bucks thats what i've rough guessed for me anyway , living in the ATL GA area.

To gain some good HP/torque-

Tuner:
Superchip tuner
Daiblo predtor
Xcal-

Exhuast:
Magnaflow (i believe its only most noticed and tested Dyno that it gains HP and torque without lost pressure.)
Borla?
Banks?

intake filter:
Airaid cold intake system

I had a 98' F150 4x4 with the 4.6 Triton , I first tried just the K&N air filter and then the FIPK . I noticed more HP/TORQUE gain with just the K&N air filter . I didn't notice but very little gain when I aded the K&N FIPK. $50.00 versus $150.00 and I got more out of just using the K&N air filter. I also had put true duale exhaust on the 98' with two 40 flow masters. I didn't notice any differents when I added the exhaust , beside that it sounded realy good.

Get a tuner you will need to run premium, now that gas is going way up, it's going to cost! So the $$ to HP may not be worth the effort.

Tuner, Catback. In that order. I also use a K&N airfilter.
The best thing about the tuner is the shift points and shift firmness.
You don't need to run Premium gas. I use the 87 octaine rating, and the stock Superchips settings. The tuner is the most fun for the money.

Do get the exhaust done if you can get it for 230-290 like some of us did.

Since the question was how does he get the most HP and Torque in order for a tuner to provide both premium needs to be used. Tuner does not provide max HP and Torque gains in stock settings.

But it provides more useable torque and power at regular settings. I'm not into splitting logic hairs. Just what works.
Now, if we split hairs;
To get maximum torque etc, requires removeing the stock motor and putting in a race motor, or perhaps a small jet engine. Or a Jato bottle.
So I assume that maximum means maximum practical or usable for a reasonable price. Perhaps I'm wrong, and he should start pricing rockets...
That would be good too, provided he posts pictures.

My point was the Superchips only provides 19Hp and 18.7ft lbs with premium. Therefore the stock setting can't be that much of an improvement. Hence the reason $$$ for perfomance payback comment if he is going to use premium.. To keep it in the context of the question he asked, not asking for major engine change as you so noted. He wants most bang for the buck.
