ok i just bought a really nice flatbed for my 78 f-250 and after thinking about it id like to put a hoist on it so i can haul rock and other misc. stuff.
so my question is is there any way i can kinda hack some type of a lift system together i was thinking a scissor lift with a ram but i dont know how im going to power the ram i have a couple laying around but would another power steering pump do the trick or AC pump or even a starter motor driving a hydro pump i just dont know i would need a resivor and some type of pump but im just nnot sure what to use
so does anyone know or have a system that they made that they could give me plans to
thanks Marcus
P.S. I didnt know where to post this question so i picked here
A friend of mine has an E450 Cab/Chassis with a dump bed. Since it is an auto and no PTO (like the old man's F600), his set up uses a starter motor on a hydraulic pump to power the ram for the lift.
My old man was Mr. Fabricate it, a welder etc. Even HE bought the hoist set up for those trucks, rather than try to fab one. Now these were 2 ton trucks with 14 foot beds, so it's a bigger deal than you are trying.
I think you are talking about something like a power ramp gate? The 1,000 pound models usually run about $1,000+ used. You want to put it on the ramp, bring it to bed height, and then roll it into the bed? Then the gate folds in half and acts like a tailgate?
