Problem in steering column.

89 F250. Would not start. Replace ignition switch. Would not start. Jumped the solinoid and it starts but I can't release the parking shift lever. Is there a pin or shaft that is supposed to connect to the ignition switch? Where can I get a copy of the column assembly detail?

Problem in steering column.

Etrade, Is this in conjunction with your other post? 89' F-150's had problems with the electric neutral saftey switch that is mounted on the side of the auto trans. There was a recall with an updated switch. We would jump ours at the solinoid to get it started until we replaced the safety neutral switch. As for it not going into gear or selecting an auto gear position, sounds like linkage. I know that when this happened to our 89', my brother almost physically tore the entire steering column out trying to start the darn thing. Long story short, extra parts for having a bad temper. Lol. Jake.
