Additional Power

I have a 99 Super Duty Diesel with a 4R100 transmission. Last week I had some work done on the transmission and was talking to the tech that did the work. He stated that if I was pulling a trailer and wanted/needed some extra power that I should push the overdrive button on the shift lever and then turn on the emergency flasher lights. I did not think at the time to ask him why turning on the emergency flashers would give extra power. Does anyone know??? Don...

I think he means to say- turn off the overdrive(3rd gear) and since you will be going slower you'll need your hazards flashing so people won't run into the back of you. lol!! But what fun is that.
