I have done a search on this and can't find too much so I will just ask. Other than a possible larger bore and twin turbo's is there going to be anything different on the body or interior of the truck?
I have wondered about the 2007's also. That is when I would be in the market to replace my 03'. There is alot of articles stating that Ford will further thier ideas on the F350 Tonka concept truck. I am sure that it would be a toned down version of that. I am not sure on the power side of the truck. I would never be in the market for a diesel because I just dont do enough towing to justify the added expense. So my questions are with the gasser engines. I love my V10 and all accounts the 3 valve 05' V10's are great. So I wonder what Ford will do? Keep the V10 with more modifications or go to this "Hurricane" V8 that everone is talking about. But a V8 will never equal the torque of a V10..........two more cylinders adding to the torque numbers.
I like the Tonka comcept body style. You can see a ton of similarities with the current Super Duty. There are some things that they need to tone down to appeal to the core Super Duty owner.
I really don't see why they would do twin turbo's either but I would think that they might keep refining the 6.0 and get some more out of it. I am very curious about the body for the 2007 model. I am looking to replace my 2000 5.4L with a diesel and if you think about it the 2007's are not that far off. If it was something that really floated my boat I could wait and get the new body style. Sure will be a long wait though.
Boxcar,
FYI the Hurricane project was killed by Ford Motor about a month ago. They claim research says the big v-8 popularity is a passing fad and they don't want to spend any more money developing the product. My opinion: A BIG MISTAKE.
As oong as Ford does not kill the V10 I will be happy. I would only get a Super Duty with a V10. Like I stated ealier, a diesel is not a option for me for the lack of towing. The added expense in initial cost, diesel fuel prices, and maintenance costs. I have driven a SD with a V8 and it has NO COMPARISON to the V10. I have a 03' V10 F350 DRW dump truck at work. It is a solid performer but, my V10 in my F250 really screams. So Ford if you are listening............keep my beloved V10!!!!!
It seems to be alot of rumors about the fate of the hurricane engine. Everything points to the New York Auto Show being held the last week of March into the first week of April. All accounts the final decision will be announced. Alot of union Ford engine block plants are still encouraged about the hurricane. I guess we will have to wait and see.
