Prep for paint-how to remove headlight, etc.
I'm prepping for paint. I'm removing as much trim as possible to speed up sanding and reduce taping.
1. How do you remove the headlight assembly?
2. Trying to remove the rear bumper...Bolts are seriously tight, which bolts and is it possible without a power tool?
3. Some screws on the wheel well trim aren't budging. Tried WD-40, any other suggestions?
4. Is there any easy way to remove sticky residue from the truck after removing adhesive trim pieces. Also, is there an easy way to clean up the trim pieces for re-use after new paint. Can you buy an effective adhesive tape?
Any other tips for prep work would be appreciated.

When I couldn't remove the bumper bolts on my 84 due to rust, I just cut them off with a torch.
One trick I used to take off a stubborn trim bolt was to use a pair of Grip pliers, and twist it out. IF it is stripped, try pulling and turning at the same time.
I use a product called "S'OK" from NAPA for a penetrating oil to soak rusted bolts.
You can use acetone, alcohol or ammonia to remove trim residue. WD-40 also works good.
I cleaned up my original chrome trim with very fine steel wool, and it's still lokking like new.
Look for 3M double-sided tape.
I removed my hood just because it needed a hole cut in it before painting, but anything you can take off and paint separately will make for a better job in the end. I also removed the doors to get the door jambs painted.
I also removed the windshield trim, door locks and handles, side mirrors, etc. In essence, I de-trimmed the truck and went at it with a DA sander....I guess I didn't trust myself with that tool
