Couldn't tell you. I was given two options for the 302 EFI in my '85 Bronco. I took the cheaper, as both had the same warranty and I was told by the parts guy that he'd never had a return on either. So far, so good. If it's only a matter of brand name or warranty, it's pretty much your call.... Was this the difference, or were they telling you that there were differences depending upon your date of manufacture, VIN, etc.?

Try another store. Or a different counterperson in the same store.

Early FI trucks had a tank mounted low pressure pump, and a frame mounted high pressure pump. And if you had two tanks, the aux tank had a pump. And different tanks may have had different pumps. So some studying or measuring your wheel base may be needed to figure out what you have. Most people in parts stores are a clueless lot. You have to be the expert.

You may not even need to worry about the in-tank pumps. Do you know which is bad? Your in-tank low pressure or frame-mounted high-pressure? Do you have dual tanks? Do you experience the same problem on either tank? If so, and if it's the frame-mounted high pressure unit, there should only be one example for your truck (with the exception, of course, of the same pump offered by two different manufacturers). I agree, the in-tank low pressure pumps are likely different depending on which tank they are located in. Your parts guy is just looking at a screen or in a manual, and seeing the wheelbase jargon and eight different listings and not really thinking about your problem or your truck's setup. Essentially, the wheelbase info is in there to differentiate between short or long-bed models, and determine what your tank arrangement is - shortbed w/ single or dual? Long bed w/ single or dual? They likely listed this to apply to all pickups, but since you have an F250, you know you have a long-bed (longer wheelbase), and whether you have a single or dual tanks. The choices are really narrower than they seem.
