I'm in Ohio. They put additives in the diesel fuel to stop gelling at low temps. I think it's a law that all dealers have to sell this type of diesel during the winter months. Would I still need to use the other addtitives that I've seen mentioned on here?
I'm also curious, how often do you use the additives? Every tank ..once a month ..or what?
What is the best fuel additive (or your favorite)?
I use Diesel Kleen in the grey bottle in the warm 45*+ months cuz it has a centane addative in it for MORE POWER. and I use the white bottle in the colder winter months cuz it is has an antigel in it. and I have noticed a dramatic difference in the way the truck idles if I dont us any. I put 4 oz. per tank in every time i fill up, which is roughly 13 gallons of diesel per tank. all year every tank. the main reason i use it every time is cuz like I said earlier the truck runs much quieter with the addative, less knock.
I use the same as Diesel Rod. The gray bottle of DieselKleen is like octane booster for gasoline. Use it everytime you fill up. Around here its only bout 12 dollars to treat 100 gallons.
Stanadyne is probably the best (they make your injectors & pump), but it's not widely availabe - or at least readily available.
I use Power Services aka Diesel Kleen in either grey or white bottle. WalMarket stocks it, as do most 'gas' stations with truck diesel pumps.
me - about 8 oz... every tank, all year long. it should also help with lubrication of the fuel system components, as today's treehugger happy diesel doesn't have the same additives as years ago.
I use Diesel kleen, it seems to have helped the truck. Smoother, less black smoke and generally runs better. The amount you add depends, as I never let my tanks run down less than 1/4 (do not need the hassel of bleeding EVERYTHING) you need to determine the # of oz. per tank to suite your truck.
