Just got a letter from Ford stating that they are extending the warranty/recall on replacing the fuel pump witht he faulty check valve that causes gas to run to the other tank (if you have dual tanks, you probably know what i'm talking about). Says that they're extending the free replacement (parts & labor) period to 12 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first. "If the vehicle already has more than 150,000 miles, this coverage will last until December 31, 2001." (From the letter).
Also says that if you paid to replace the pump, Ford will reimburse you, just bring the invoice to a Ford dealer. The extended program number is 01M05 (zero one em zero five).
Just thought some of you might want to know... or have also received this same letter.
I was wondering if anyone else had got one of those letters. I'm planning on taking my truck in to get the recall done since this problem has occurred on my truck before.
It seemed to me that it was an extension of an existing recall, but I don't have the letter with me right now (at work). As soon as I get home, I'll post the original recall number.
OK, the original recall number is 93S68, the extension program is 01M05. You can probably look up the original recall on this site (click Recalls/TSBs), or on www.nhtsa.dot.gov The recall should include all years covered.
Do you know what years are being covered by this fuel problem?
I have a 94 F-150XL 300 FI
Dual Tanks.........!!!!!
I got the same recall letter. My truck is a 93. Carbon steel(3$ word for mild steel)fuel pressure regulator to be replaced with one made of stainless steel. Dual tank gasolene trucks only. I guess theres a differance with the diesels.

LAST EDITED ON 09-Aug-01 AT 01:45 PM (EST)[p]Look a little farther in this forum.Page 7. I posted this recall about a month or so ago. http://www.ford-trucks/dcforum/80_96/5468html
I also have this problem where my rear tank dumps 90 % of the fuel back into the front tank. The way it works is that after i use up the front tank i switch to the rear drive about 20 miles and the guage goes down to empty then i switch back to the front tank and it shows about half of a tank. Then when i fill up both tanks, and the same procedure again until i repair it. The other day i called the ford dealer and i gave him the vin # and they told me my 89 was not covered ? 12 years back ? they said sorry its not in the program. They said it is the fuel selector valve probaly not a check valve. Which i know there was a recall on these.I looked it up, maybe i should do a car fax check and see if the fuel selector valve was already replaced in the past.I will probally fix this myself I just hope it is the selector valve it is easier to repair . Does anyone agree that it is the selector valve and not anything else ? thanks.
For me it seems to have been the selector valve. I have hardly any crossflow anymore after I changed it. It's cheap ($48) from http://fordpartsonline.com and easy to install.
