I just bought this truck so I don't know alot of history. I tried to use my wipers the other day and they didn't work. I looked in my fuse box and it says it needs an 8.25 c.b. I didn't have one at the time so I put in a 20 just to see what happened. The wipers worked but only at one speed and they wouldn't turn off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Funny it doesn't show a circuit breaker, but shows a fuse. Anyway, if the wiring looks ok, and I had to guess, my guess would be the multi-function switch or the plug going to it is loose and or melted. Do your turnsignals work ok? This is switch has a lot of stuff in it, and is always giving trouble.
its wierd the back of my fude cover says ci.b. but my manual says fuse. I have tried both and get the same outcome. my turn signals work fine. I pulled it apart today and the plug looks ok as does the wiring. as far as I can tell everything looks just fine. could it be that the switch has gone bad?
The wiring diaagram shows the hot wire going to the wiper control module. This may be your problem, not the switch. There are relays in this unit that may be shorted out. The wiper module is located behind the glove box. You push in on two tabs and the unit slides down out of the mounting bracket. This unit cost over one hundred bucks at the dealer (check salvage yards). I had a problem with my delay wipers and had to replace this unit.
I have a 92 explorer and my wipers work on high only I can not find the module no where is not around the e-brake the only thing that I found was an small black box that looks like a relay and it has a micro chip on it + some other electric things please help.

Sorry PATO, I don't have a service book on the explorer. My Chilton manual says to look for the module by the wiper switch. Its not there.. its behind the glove box at least on the 1994 f-series trucks.

Reason: spelling
I can give you some info that may help. This pertains to F-series so it may or may not apply to explorer. In '92 the wiper switch was on the dash and the delay module was mounted to the switch or mounted right behind the switch. In '93 the wiper switch was part of the steering column mounted multifunctions switch and the delay module was mounted behind the glove box. I hope this helps.
