Mirror hacks

I have been wanting to change out the sport mirrors to the TT mirrors. I have been searching ebay for 5-6 weeks now. I have ruled out all the aftermarket junk. The dealer wants $350 for them. So like I said I have been searching for some OEM ones on ebay sold as a pair. So tonight I found a 2003 pair in primo condition. I was looking at the guys pics. They looked great. They are from the same year as my truck so no connector issues. I made up my mind to bid on them. The bid was $135 with 23hrs left on the auction.............BUT THEN I NOTICED SOMETHING ODD......the mirrors I need are power with out heat or signals. These are listed as power mirrors. BUT I NOTICED ..... NO HARNESS??????? this guy had 2 pics (L&R SIDES) neither had a harness. So before I bid on them I sent him a email. He told me that is way quicker just to cut the wires and splice the wires on the mirror to the old harness???????????? so this is how he removed them from the vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT A GD HACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I look closer at the pics I can see the stub of wire left. Can you believe this clown did this???????? And I can bet the 8 people who bid on them have no idea this was done to them.

I am guess the dealer is the best option for me......I do a ton of HWY driving and the sport mirrors just don't cut it.

Get with a local body shop. they can get them at a lower cost. sometimes they will get them for you at thier cost + a little. If they are not doing any work, and they make a few dollars on the sale. it's worth the try.

Cut wire ? kinda sounds like theft. the guy probalby stole those mirrors and just cut the harness to get away quicker. do you still have the link to that auction?

Mirror Harness

Unbolting them is easy--3 rubber cups and 3 nuts, but the wire harness connector is about a foot below the mounting point, and to get to that, you have to remove the door panel.
