LAST EDITED ON 15-Aug-01 AT 04:13 AM (EST)[p]I've been having some weird problems on my 85 F150 lately.. 5.8L V8 with 4-bbl.
It runs fine, but doesn't always start. It turns over fine, but sounds like it's not getting gas or something.
The carbeurator has recently rebuilt, and air filter has been changed.
I'm guessing it might be the fuel pump, but am not sure. Because once it starts, it runs fine.
And a new starter has also been installed recently.
Any ideas what might cause this weird behavior?
Did you have the problem before the carb was rebuilt? Check your fuel filters. You can check the pump by disconnecting the fuel line at the the carb, put the line in a can and have someone crank the motor to see if you are getting fuel.
I was actually having different problems before the carb was rebuilt, and the carb was the problem. Once the carb got rebuilt, it ran great for a couple months and started acting up again.
The thing is, if it is the fuel filter or fuel pump, why does it run fine once it's started?
