Im trying to make one truck out of two and I am almost there. I have a '68 and '69 F-100 360's in both. I have decided to go with the auto c6 tranny, one probem the thing sat for four years and does not want to shift out of first. I can manually shift into second but I would kinda like to get a little more out of this tranny. HELP!
You possibly have a bad vacuum modulator. Try replacing it and make sure the vacuum line from the intake manifold to modulator is good and attached. If that doesn't help then you probably have one or more valves in the valve body sticking which can be cleaned and freed up with B12 or similar product. You'll have to remove you tranny pan and valve body. Having a shop manual for the C6 will help here.
Definitely start with the Modulator. Then make sure the vacuum line isn't cracked. Make sure you are pulling a vacuum with the engine running. Maybe you'll luck out.
Thanks guys I will try all that I was just trying to not have a rebuild. The tranny had less than 5000 miles on it before it was parked. I will check back.
well all I got it figured out and it screams.................I didnt even have a vacuum hose hooked up. Just a case of too many buddies helping and a lot of parts being thrown around. Thanks for the input
4 cammer72, I want to know were your fishing. A beer per fish caught sounds good. We don't have many fish left in Calif unless you call mutations fair game.
