Speedometer problem again !!!

Question Speedometer problem again !!!
My 95 AWD with 222000 miles has been acting very strange lately. The speedometer starts jumping and it loose power and wont shift correctly. It also stalls until i hit the trip reset a few times. What else should i check ?

Check the fuses. Mine did that, I thought it was broken beyond repair. I found a blown fuse and replaced it. All is well.

ok , but it has been coming and going with this problem. If it was a fuse it should stay blown until its replaced

Could be a bad speed sensor, too. The one on the rear diff.

I removed the fuse for the speedometer and the truck runs fine but when i replace it it starts stalling and won't shift properly.

Well I'm glad i listen to this forum but i didn't know what to do about the speedometer errors. I replaced it with a used one with a few more miles and its better than new.

Glad you were able to find the issue.

BTW sense the odo is digital, wouldn't it read what the PCM told it to read?

Aerostar speedometer problem
Hello...first attempt to log on so excuse any improprieties. Have 92 aerostar with digital speedo that went out. Wonder where the mentioned fuse might be??? No overdrive, cruise control or readout of speed or miles. Gas is killing me! Any other advise to run down the problem??? Many thanx!

Thanx for the welcome....still trying to find my way around. Looking for the fuse in 93 Aerostar for digital speedometer??? Appreciate any help.

Fuse # 8 (15A) or fuse # 17 (10A) on the fuse box near your left leg.

You need to pop out the black cover to see the fuses.

Thanx very much!! Am off to find new fuses and will check those out. Didn't notice numbers of the fuse locations.....is there somewhere I can view them??

I do not have the black cover....that's probably where the locations are

And finally, since this is the only place I can find to post.....how can I start a new post with a problem regarding stuck closed sliding door on 93 Aerostar?? Thanx again.
