Transmission problems!!
Hi all im new to this so bear with me now. Ive got my hands on a 1990 f-150 iv6, with an 8ft box and heavy duty rear end ( so i was told when i was givin it). The only problem with it is that it needs a new Tranny, the previous owner (my dad, jerk) tore the crap out of the one it has it and he said if i can find a tranny and fix the truck it will be mine. So my question is that with this trucks its got a heavy duty tranny into her, again so im told, and im not sure what im supposed to be looking for as far as a transmission goes. So if anyone can possibly give me some direction to as what type and what not of transmission im to be looking for it would be greatly appreciated, thanks all

If the truck has a 6 cylinder and is a 1990 it has the 300 Cubic Inch straight six (4.9 Liter). This is different than a V6 bc on a straight six the cylinders are all in a line. You may want to try the Inline six forum on this site. Someone will probably be able to help you there. If you get it running you will not be disappoiinted with the straight six. I had one and absolutely loved it, it had great low end torque, it was a little hard on the fuel, but it was built like a tank.
