96 Explorer
I have a 96 explorer 4.0 v-6 automatic 4x4. The shifter willno longer return far enough for the indicator to show it is in park. When I put it in reverse the indicator shows it to be in neutral. I have been able to find all of the gears
until today.I cant't seem to put it in drive. It will drive fine and but will never seem to shift into the higher gears (like it is in second gear) The problem began with the shifter. Is this a problem with the shifting mechanism or something deeper in the transmision? One more question. Where the shift cable attaches to the transmision there is an electrical box. What does it do?
