Do Fuel Additives Prevent Injuector Failure??

I have a hunch, but am not sure how to test or verify if I am right, or if there is validity to my hypothesis...

Does using fuel additives with lubricating properties deminish or allow for better injector performance and not leak diesel fuel into the crankcase?

Case in point... seems that people that run heavy concentrations of PowerService, Stanadyne or other commercially available additives have a zero or less injector failure rate (at least those with the original C94 injectors like myself) - every tank full???

I have 42,000 miles of trouble free injector performance with my March 1, 2003 built motor (C-94 injectors).

Anybody have any proof of this, or how do I start a thread with a poll question for people to say "yes or no"?

Are injector failure issues happening to those NOT using additives on a regular (every tank full) basis???

Please post only the following in your replys below.

1) Additive useage (yes or no)

2) If yes, brand and frequency

3) Injector failure - Yes or no

4) C94 (original) or C95 (new) injectors

5) Total miles on truck

6) Miles when injector failure ocurred.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hunter how was elk camp? I heared from some buddies it was pretty good. Not much snow at Mt. Bachelor, should have stayed home. Hope to hook up next time your in town or I'm out that way. Now on to the topic. I just started using additive and think after reading alot on this topic either power service or staydyne are the two to go with. Just have 5,000 miles on truck and running well other than a turbo fart and the stupid A/C baffle door slam sound.

I have two data points since I bought my truck used. First is my guess at the previous owners habits.

Previous owner Miles 0 - 10,000
1) Additive useage (yes or no) NO - did not mention anything about additives to me. I learned about them here.

2) If yes, brand and frequency - N/A

3) Injector failure - Yes or no - NO, truck had never been infor service prior to me owning it.

4) C94 (original) or C95 (new) injectors - C94

5) Total miles on truck - 10,000 when sold to me.

6) Miles when injector failure ocurred. N/A
