headers & SC's
Also, is it that smart to supercharge a enigne that already has 60,000 miles on it?
Like if you had an Intake, Exhaust, Chip, Pulleys, Fans, etc...then your headers would be worth it, but alone they really wouldn't do too much, but the will do a little.
MAC Headers are my personal choice if I got any headers...
They are equal length, ceramic coated, shorty headers, and they are $300.00 per set from www.macperformance.com for our 4.2's.
The SC question depends...if you get everything dyno-tuned the way it's supposed be, you shouldn't really have a problem. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get a really good tune up...ie: wires, plugs, all fluids, etc...
And FYI, if you get a SC, DEFINATELY get the headers because they would make a huge difference then!
Also, when it comes to adding a supercharger, go all out. Dont short change yourself here and there to make it easier to afford the tune afterwards. IE Go ahead and install the 42# injectors and 90mm MAF so that there are limited variables, such as an FMU (Fuel management unit). Too hard to tune things that have a lot of variables. Also, go ahead and get a good INTERCOOLER. Discharge temps are high, especially in centrifigul blowers. You can expect on a 80* day, for temps to be around 210-230*F leading into your throttlebody. Just do plenty of research, and post up any and all questions.
Currently there is only on true kit available. It is from Need For Speed, and I do NOT like how they do business. Do a search on here and you can read my rant. I basically had to re-engineer the kit to make it work.
