Yea Jossdoit, I debated about that FX package and it gives you the rancho looking shocks and skidplates. I didn't get it because I had a 98 Expy which never had skid plates with no trouble, but I guess if I didn't care about saving a buck I would have got it.

At least order the skid plate package... my concern was the gas tank is not metal (tapped on it and it sounded like plastic or fiberglass) so it won't dent but could crack instead.

Thanks for all the great input everyone! The only thing about the power sliding window is that you have to get a lariat for that and I don't want a lariat because I don't think I want leather seats. I haven't really decided though. Thanks again!
I ordered and got exactly the truck I wanted but different then what most people want. F-250 Reg.Cab, 2 wheel drive, V10, XLT would kinda have liked Lariet but can't get reg cab with it.
I got the $120 option of single CD and cassette. I like to tape favorites at home off of my CD's and so I like the cassette as well as the CD player. One at a time is enough for me.
I have tinted "privacy glass" it's good but I thought it would be a little darker, I have manual sliding window which I wanted and with reg cab it's right close by so easy to operate. Mainly wanted access to topper.
I got all the tow equipment including the 12.5 hitch but discovered with the hitch you must use equalizer hitch (which will cost maybe $250) or with reg ball mount and ball your tow capacity is 5000 lb trailer and 500 lb tongue wt. I plan to pull 6000 pd so I made deal with dealer and traded for heavier 12000/1200 lb hitch for $110 plus installation. Otherwise there is NOTHING I don't like about my new truck ! Well, 30 MPG would be nice.
bigredtruckmi reverse sensor - in consumers report - was very inaccurate in their opinion the article said the sensitivity varried a lot depending on what the sensor saw. (light post vs another vehicle.)
It is absolutely infallible with children and pets though- the main single reason I wouldn't be without. My Lab did her impression of world's stoopidest dog behind a neighbors F150. The Reverse sensor is the only reason she's still around. a few days later, his young son was behind the truck when his wife was backing up. Same story- I'm a believer. Funny thing was, he didn't really want the feature when he bought it. He wouldn't have another one without it.
Make your deal on the most fully loaded truck first. Some of those options are included in the better models, but cost more on the lesser ones. You can run the price of an XLT with options over what you could get a Lariat with many included items for.Never start small and work up. If anything start by trying to buy the best model and deal on that. Then deduct things you may not want.
I agree with RockinB. That way you'll never look back or have many regrets. I bought mine off the lot and my only regret is that I didn't order so I would have manual shift transfer case and lariat package.
I'll throw my two cents in. I have an '02 F350 with privacy glass, 6 CD changer and the Reverse aid sensor. I thought the reverse sensor was the stupidest thing I had ever seen when I bought the truck, now I think it is great. I have experienced many of the things people have mentioned re: pets, unseen objects, cars passing behind you as you are backing, etc. Well worth the money in my humble opinion. Privacy glass does help keep interior cooler, protects interior and contents. CD changer is nice, depends a lot on how you listen to music. Very nice for traveling where you don't know the radio stations. Load up the changer with music you like, hit random and off you go. Good luck, hope this helps.
-Reverse Vehicle Sensing - I've lived without this for this long. Not worth it to me. -Stabilizer Pkg - It's a truck. Dogon right. Buy it if you're ever going to haul a load. -6 disc CD changer - Nice but aftermarket quality is better.
-Privacy Glass - factory tint is good. -Power/manual sliding window - Manual.
Think about the real options. Limited slip, High output alternator, FX4 package, Auto hubs, 8800 gvw, camper package and tow package. These are options you'll use in a truck, and will help retain value when it comes time to sell.
Oh, and get the glove box light. Mud flaps too. Wheel well liners. Block heater!
I went to a dealer yesterday and he said that if I don't absolutely need the power sliding rear window to not get it because they have been having some problems with it and it is an expensive item to fix. Anyone else heard of any problems?
Only problem I've heard about is from people like me who don't have them and wish they did. I've not seen anybody post about a problem with this option but I could have missed it.
