Question Edge Evo without Gauges?!!

I have a good friend who is going to give me his Edge evolution in exchange for some work. According to the box and a local salesman, you can use the lowest setting (tow I believe), without exhaust or gauges with no worries. I have the kwik filter and nothing else. Does this sound right? I do not tow or haul anything but a couple of skilsaws. Also, my buddy has 4'' exhaust, filter and an 100hp BD Power custom burned chip and has no gauges and the dealer that burned the chip said that as long as he didn't tow anything than there is no need for gauges. Does that sound right? 100 hp seems like a lot of extra fuel and thus egt's to me. Looking for some honest results here, I dont want the Edge sitting in my garage until I can afford gauges and exhaust. Thanks,

Go ahead and use it!! Mine rarely gets over 800 degrees on the Extreme setting even when I'm getting on it hard on the highway. Now if you're towing, that's a different story, you'll definately want the gauges for towing.

Is that a pre or post turbo number?

I have had two different chip/tunes on my psd and it will run at 750 degrees with the cruise control on going down the freeway. But I do think it would be OK to run the Edge at a low setting without gauges, unloaded ofcourse.

Pre-turbo. I'm a big fan of gauges, as is everyone else, but I think you'll be safe unless you're really abusing the truck.

Thanks very much guys, I think I will hook the Evo up soon. I really appreciate the info. I guess if I do need to tow then I will just set it to stock for the tow, unhook the load and set it back to the tow program when I am done. Thanks again,
