There you go. 2 similar equipped Ford and Chevy MY 2000 (5 years is nice even place for a temporary lull in depreciation), the Ford is worth $5000 more than the Chevy.

Nothing showed up in your links. Just blank screens.

It has been proven year after year, that in HD pickups Ford has better resale value. The only reason Ford doesn't have it in 1/2 tons is because they send so many to rental agencies and that drives the overall sales prices down when resale time comes.

Not to rain on your parade but there a couple of diffences between your vehicles which would scew the results if Fords favor. The biggest of which is your comparing GM 6.5 TD to 7.3 Interenational TD.

That's hardly going to give somebody an accurate picture

Still assuming a 5 year average depreciation (I did not do it because if the engine, only age was the factor) Ford still has better value than GM. The average buyer is only going to keep a truck for 5 years or until it is paid for and then sell it. This is what I was trying to illustrate.

I guess that could make sense.
What your kinda saying is that in the GM 3/4 ton market pre Duramax there was very few 6.5's around. And now that the Dmax is available who'd want the 6.5? On the the other hand you have Fords wildy popular 7.3 litre which consumed 90% of the diesel market in it's 'hay-day' and given the issues with the problematic 6.0 of today the 7.3 litre is prolly, in some cases, still sought after and would pull more money from a consumer.

ok well i went to the jd power website http://www.jdpower.com/cc/auto/index.jsp
and look up the Pin in the left hand column under ratings and look up the ford dodge and chevy for 2004
trust me it say the ford and dodge gets for stars on average for the 250 350 and chevy gets 5 on the 2500HD and 3500.

i also agree that the old 6.5's resale value is not there at all. while the duramax is completely different on that.

and on average i think people are doing the 3 years 0% atleast that gm had out. and jd power is based on 3 years depriciation if you read the finer print.

Talk about resale values. Ive seen dealers having a hard time keeping used V-10s on the lot. However GM HDs sit on the lots forever before they sell. Yeh it looks like Ford has the better resale value.

Yeh it looks like Ford has the better resale value. IMO Fords 7.3 PSD has the best resale value off any diesel on the market bar none. Better then the 6.0. Better then Duramax. Better then Cummins Sorry for the double post there. Doggone it.

What does the 2003 shoot out have any thing to do with resale value.
