...because the GM plant here in Lansing is closing. I work for one of the suppliers, so I'm out of a job soon. Hopefully I can find a good paying job soon, or else I will have to sell my beloved F-150. :-(
I don't know if you have a severnace package or not but try to make the most of it. Give yourself sometime to think about what you really want to do and take so time to relax. A layoff is scary but a job is just a job. Make the most of it and keep you head held high.
I got laid off last year. I was flaming mad at first, but when I found out what Unemployment Insurance was going to pay me, I took the whole summer off, went on vacation to Myrtle Beach for a week, and enjoyed myself. It was great, figured hey, this is probibly my last chance to have an entire summer off, enjoy it. I wish I could do that every summer. Keep your head up, all will be good.
Sorry about your loss of job, but like everyone has already said, make the most of it. Check with unemployment. There should be some programs to send you to school to upgrade your education or try something new. It could be a turn for the better in the long run, as long as you make it that way.
Thanks for the replys, guys. It looks like I'm gonna take a few weeks off and ride my motorcycle around, and go to school, and learn some stuff for a change. Probably better off that way, anyway. But I gotta sell my truck which sucks, but oh well, I'll buy another one.
Jim, sorry to hear about the truck , there will be others. Keep the bike (I have 9 of 'em). I was laid off in 11-03, and have 5 years to retire but i'm not looking for work. It will find you. If your young travel with the scooter and enjoy what life has to offer as later you'll have less time to play. You have your health so don't complain. I thank the "little man in that white house" and the "governator" in Cali for screwing me up. Worry about things that you can change not little things. Look at others less fortunate and be thankful.
Jim; hang in there as there's more to life than a job. I'll send you bike and car photos on your email as this forum sucks with adding photos. Norton's, BMW's are international show winners and the 56 Mercedes Benz and Porsche powered 54 VW are different also. You should ride in the spring / summer not this wet winter crap.
Man just take it one day at a time. I layoff in December 9 2000. They broke me off a little somthing, somthing. I took the whole month of December and half of Janurary. Spent time with the kids, and wife. This was good cause now I work nights and really only get to spend time with them on the weekend. Just count your blessings.
