Have your alternator tested at any local parts store for free.

So there is no power inside the cab? Sounds like the fusable link. They are integrated into the wiring near the starter solinoid. On the bettery side of the solinoid there should be a couple smaller wires - go about 3-4" down the wire and test them for power by stabbing with a test light, if no power then the link has melted and needs replaced. They can be bought at any parts store, be sure to solder them in and cover with heat shrink tubing.

Let us know what you find.

Check your fuse panel for main power to make sure you are getting power into the cab. I had the same problem when I went over a set of rail road tracks my truck died, Im talking no lights, hazards, or anything. Checked all the fuse links and I didnt have power but it was not the fuse links it turned to be my main power the feeds the fuse panel was spliced and came loose from its connection. So my conclusion is that those fuse links are fed from the cab so if now power to cab no power to fuse links. My truck is also a 1977 the main wire to my fuse panel is a large black wire with a yellow stripe on it. Hope this helps I know mine drove me nuts until I found it.
