What Differential Do I have??

hey, Could you guys tell me what Differentials I have in my truck I have a 1977 F250 ranger XLT SuperCab, Camper Special. And what are your opinions on this truck it is in perfect condition with 135,000 original miles on it.

either a 44 front and 60 rear or 60 front and 70 rear. look at the casting next to the dif cover and the number should be cast in

You could also have a Dana 61 on that truck. Dana 61's usually had pretty high gears, though, usually 3.07 or 3.31.

You say diferentials as in two, assuming you have 4x4 then you have a dana 60 rear, the d70 was not put in 4x4's, and the front is probably a dana 44, though a dana 60 could be optioned. You can check by simply measuring the axle tubes, a d60 is 3.12" and a d44 is 2.75". The d60 front also has the bigger hubs. Of course, the truck is 25 years old and anyone could have put anything in it by now. Regarding the truck in general, thats a good model, of course, most people around this site, love em all...I know I do. Good luck with it. -Dale
