Love the board, Im a newbie--I got a question though, and I did try and look through old threads but I couldn't find anything on this topic! Its a fuel question, and since theres no forum on here for fuel, I figured I'd ask my fellow V-10 muchachos. Here it is....
I was wondering if anyone on here has any thoughts on the type of fuel you use in your trucks/vans. Reason I ask is Ford says in there manual to avoid gases with metallic compounds added to them, same with ethanol, as they can cause serious harm to your fuel system. Has anyone heard of this before? Iv been trying to find out what the gas companies up here in ontario put in our gas but haven't had much luck yet. Would love to know what my fellow Ontarians/(anyone in Northern type climate) have to say on the subject.

Dan, good luck on your new E series V10. The date the dealer gives you is usually the week that your truck is being built . Hence the date they give you is mostly a Monday. Once the truck is built you can go into the Oasis forum over at Flatrate.tech and give them your vin. They will be able to give you the exact date it was built and it might be the Monday. I think all those stories about Monday and Friday built vehicles does not pertain to the new computer style of manufacturing we have today but nevertheless I was happy when I found mine was built on Tuesday, Jan 11/ 05. Take care, Wrench.
PS about the gas all I know is my truck likes Chevron reg 87 .
in the owners manual ford states they recomend amoco or bp/arco. several men here have found others that work better for their ride, i think its hit and miss and try them all untill you find whats best for where you live and how you drive.
good luck with that new ride, many years of it.
This is from a friend of mine who is a retired Shell Exex.. He says that the only two fuels here in the US that DO NOT add alcohol are Shell and Marathon..also Sheetz is Shell like which mean no Alcohol. Shell is had to find around here so We use Marathon or Sheetz in ALL out veh. There is no doubt that we get better Milage with these fuels..Oh yes..BP is the absolute worst according to a mech friend of mine....will ruin your motor over time????
