Hello I have a 1983 ford f-150 with idots lights and decided to install a instrument cluster with tach and gauges from a 1984 ford f-150 but when I removed the original cluster and started to install the new one I found that the new one had a longer plugin on the printed circuit board than the original and about four more wires. Is it possible to wire this in or do I need to hunt another cluster that will fit.
Thanks Tenderfoot55
You will need to replace the cluster wiring. Also, the sending units on the engine for the oil pressure, and the voltage regulator and wiring for the alternator. Is it really worth all the trouble?
So what your saying is it would be better to just add a set of under dash gauges and be done with it. Wonder if I could still take the blank out of the original cluster and add just the tach to it and hand wire it. Would that work?
Thanks for the advise
I have a 1981 ford F-150, ... I have had it since 1990, ... I love my old truck, but one of the few things I would really like to change about it is the instrument cluster. I just plain don't like it. does anyone know of someone that sells an aftermarket custom cluster for these old trucks, or possibly a place that could fabricate one??
Ford4me302,
I wasn't able to get the ebay link to work... what would I search for to find it?
jrocco,
Where did you get that dash? was it from the site listed on the pic? I certainly like it better than what I have! Your truck looks a lot like mine... I will have to try to put up a Pic of it! It just isn't a stepside...

The is an "universal gauge panel" made by Nordskog. You can buy them through Summit Racing part # NRD-DP10002G
