Paint identity disorder?
I just bought the truck. The previous owner had it for 1 year, and there was only one owner before that. He seemed to think the truck had never been repainted. Infact he was very sure of this.
I noticed a few chips missing out of my paint and wanted to take care of it right away, so I decided to look up my paint code. The code on my sticker read, "UA".
I looked up this code on a website that is linked on this site, and found that UA is ebony (black). This was strange to say the least, considering my truck is pure white. To double check, I called the local ford dealership and they came up with the same thing.
THe problem I have with this is, usually when I truck has a paint job, there is always some evidence to support that it used to be another color. There are always cracks and crevices, for instance in the engine, that the aftermarket paint could never get to. Even the space between the bed and the cab is white. There is no evidence at all that this truck was ever a different color. Also, the factory 4x4 offroad stickers are on the side. With white paint underneath. If someone did have a paintjob done, it must have been EXTREMELY high priced to have done the job they did.
Is it possible that the paint code is wrong? Im guessing that would be an extreme longshot, but I figure it is worth investigating. I am surprised to say the least.
