swirl direction

Does anybody know what direction the air gets swirled in the swirl chamber?
clockwise or counterclockwise

It depends if you are above or below the equator. Just like water swirls opposite from us when it drains from a sink etc. in Australia. WTH, I don't really know. But the water thing is true!
Curious as to why you ask such an interesting question?

I'm working on a modification to my intake. The plan is to swirl the air to make it denser. Just don't want to spin it one just to have it turn another.

OK. Sort of a home made "tornado"? You want to keep the same spin on things. Makes sense. Hope you find out.

Air is the same as water in this example, just less dense.
But just like a draining sink, it will swirl in either direction with a little external input.

If you are trying to "index" the precup like you would index spark plugs, forget it. Let the system take care of itself. You could possibly polish the intake manifold and make a difference but trying to figure out the swirl direction would be a time and money consuming. You could remove the intake, put it on a flow bench and see what the air does thru the ports, then compare the location of the port in the precups to this direction. The air will flow toward the less resistance.
